Summer Intensive Greek Class – Greek School Ministry

We’re excited to offer a wonderful opportunity through our Greek School this summer for anyone who has ever wanted to learn Greek — whether to reconnect with our rich heritage, prepare for a trip to Greece, or simply try something new. This summer intensive is a great time to begin!

 Summer Intensive Greek Class (Adults)

 Mondays: June 8,15, 22 & 29

 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM

 St. John the Divine (Location TBC)

This four‑week intensive course is designed for adults with little or no prior experience in the Greek language. We’ll cover the basics of reading, writing, and conversational Greek in a warm, encouraging environment.

For some, this will be a chance to reconnect with the language of your papou and yiayia. For others, it will be the start of an exciting new journey. Along the way, we’ll also touch on Greek culture, music, traditions – including aspects of our Greek Orthodox faith. 

If you’ve been thinking about learning Greek, this is the best opportunity to get acquainted with the language and see if it’s a good fit for you before the regular Greek School classes resume in September.

The Greek School Ministry at St. John the Divine aims to provide our youth and adults with essential skills for reading, writing, speaking, and comprehending the modern Greek language. Our classes are centered around preserving the traditions of our faith and the Greek Nation and celebrating the intellectual and literary works of many renowned Greek artists and academics.  

Our Children’s class (target age 1st grade and older) meets Mondays from 5:30pm – 6:30 pm until May 18th. New classes will begin in the Fall.,

Our Adult classes meet Mondays. Last date for this semester will May 18th

• Beginner Class: Mondays, 5:30 – 6:30 PM & 6:45 – 7:45 PM
• Intermediate Class: Mondays, 6:45 – 7:45 PM

New Classes may be added during the year based on interest.

Before joining, please email the ministry leader for information about required books and to ensure you are placed in the right class according to your level.
